DragonRaid

The following portion comes from the second adventure called Rescue of the Sacred Scrolls.  The Raid Team finds itself in the Heinous Heights region.  They are following the orders and wishes of the OverLord of Many Names to defeat evil somewhere.  They stepped into a lake

in the safe Liberated Lands (the church) and have come out of a hollow tree in the Dragon Lands (the world).

They know the OverLord has made them ready for battle, both physical and spiritual.  They do not yet know the specifc nature of their mission.  But they each found a parchment by their backpacks, every one of them with a different message.  These clues indicate things they are to do and places they are to find.  They know if they just obey, someplace along the journey they will find out what the OverLord is doing and their part in His good work.  They are  eager to be about that task.

After a while they find themselves in the town of Safety's End, alluded to on one of the parchments.  They also know that they are to find someone named Mort the Short who will tell them something vital to know.

In the town, they are asking people if anyone knows Mort the Short.  In this process, they run into someone who needs to be treated lovingly.  They know this because the Adventure Master, the one running the adventure for the players, reads to them the following from the adventure manual that comes with the game.

"You see a big man weaving in and out of the crowd, stumbling toward your party. The
drunk has stumbled into Andy BraveHeart (one player's character).   He spills his mug
all over you and knocks you flat, collapsing on top of you!  You see that he has passed
         out."

        "What do you do now?"

The LightRaiders on the Raid Team now have to decide what they are going to do.  The Adventure Master says no more, gives no hints.

But the Adventure Master has these instructions in the adventure manual.

      1.  If the team goes off and leaves the drunk where he lies, they will each lose one mu (maturity unit) from their Love.

      2.  If a character announces that he wishes to help the man, make him roll the StarLot (ten-sided die so essential to the game) on Merciful Compassion at Difficulty Level 2.  Only if he succeeds in the roll can he help the drunk.  If he helps him in any way, reward his Love with one mu.

2a.  If the Raid Team picks him up and carries him to an inn (of which there are
several nearby), someone must pay one Tal (a coin) for his room (note that the
OverLord has provided them with two apiece).

     3.  If they wish to find out where he lives in order to take him home, roll a StarLot.  If the result is a 1, 2, or 3, then they find someone who knows the man.  This friend will offer to take the drunken man off their hands, and will even reward them five Pennies for their kindness.  They may divide up the money or give it to their treasurer (if they appointed someone this role).

And, then, the adventure continues.  They find Mort the Short and get enough information to know that they are to hunt down a dragon named Thuella who is in possession of two stolen missing parts of the Sacred Scrolls (the Bible).  They also find out the location of the dragon's castle.  And they also learn that a sorcerer has seen in a crystal ball and told Thuella that a group of LightRaiders is in the Dragon Lands and coming to take the Sacred Scroll portions back.
